YACKANDANDAH

As you make your way into the historic township of Yackandandah, you will be greeted with rows of stunning deciduous trees, which put on a particularly colourful display during Autumn. These iconic trees frame what is one of the most charming streetscapes in Australia, with historic buidlings made of timber, stone and brick. With progressive dining options and charming accommodation to welcome you after a  day of riding, this charming corner of the High Country is a popular cycling destination.

YACKANDANDAH MOUNTAIN BIKE PARK

Yack Tracks offers up a unique cross country MTB experience in beautiful native forest only a few km west of the cafes and pubs of the town centre. Three main loops, each around 15km, send you out into the gumtrees to swoop up and down gullies and along old water races, remnants of the gold rush days. Don't miss the techy Carcass Canyon, and the easier green loop is a solid ride for kids.

ROAD LOOPS

With some lovely tarmac backroads leading out of town, Yackandandah has classic, undulating High Country riding on offer. The Yack-Myrtleford-Beechworth loop is a local favourite, and other rides include the Indigo Valley loop and the scenic Dederang Road-Rosewhite Gap circuit.

GRAVEL BACKROADS

The trick with the gravel around Yack is that what looks good on a map can often translate into some seriously steep hike a bike! Find the best ways in and out of town and you'll be rewarded with classic forest and plantation riding, especially between Yack and Beechworth. Twist Creek Road and Yack Gate Road are the best options west of town.
